The winners of Star Wine List of the Year UK 2026 have been announced during an awards ceremony at 1 Hotel Mayfair. From defending champions to new kids on the block, these are the best wine lists in the United Kingdom, with a strong performance from London and the third Gold Star in as many years for the Isle of Wight.

On Monday 23 March, the finalists in Star Wine List of the Year UK gathered on the first floor of 1 Hotel Mayfair to learn who would take the 2026 Gold Stars.

Star Wine List’s Liora Levi and Rachel Fellows addressed the excitable attendees along with judge Kathrine Larsen-Robert; the Master Sommelier provided insights from the judging panel, which also included Masters of Wine Richard Hemming and Stephen Wong, and the ASI’s current Best Sommelier of Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Mikk Parre.

“The UK is consistently one of the hardest competitions to judge, due to the high calibre and vastly different approaches of the entries,” Wong commented once the judging process had been completed. “With virtually unlimited access to wine from everywhere, wine directors face a tyranny of choice in building their programmes. The top lists share commonalities: expertise and mastery of their specific fields, sensitive understanding of their audiences, and above all, a confident voice harnessing the vast diversity of cultural influences and heritage which makes the country what it is. It was a privilege and honour to judge these fantastic lists.”

Winners were announced in 13 categories, with 10 of those classified as “international,” meaning that those venues will now automatically be entered into the Star Wine List of the Year Global Final 2026, which will be hosted by Terra Skåne in southern Sweden this June. They can all be explored on our Gold Star map.

After making an impressive debut in 2025, the team from Borough Market’s OMA was back on stage once more, this year accepting a Gold Star in the Special Jury Prize for a wine selection displaying “creativity, accuracy, range, value and perhaps above all, originality,” according to Richard Hemming MW. And over in Soho, Tuscan-inspired Doppo retained the Gold Star for the Best Italian Wine List.

Also back to defend their titles from 2025 were Mountain (Soho, London), which took the Gold Star for the Best Spanish List for the second year in a row, and The Terrace Rooms & Wine (Ventnor, Isle of Wight), who have held onto the title of Best Rosé Wine List – the only venue outside of London to scoop an award.

There was a striking return to glory for Newcomer Wines, which took the Best Austrian Wine List award having previously taken the title in 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021. And while London’s DakaDaka may not have won in the Best Newcomer List category (beaten by Labombe by Trivet), the 2026 opening did scoop the accolade of Best Short List for its concise wine selection, which Stephen Wong MW described as a “true delight” that “tested the judges’ knowledge!”

Meet all of the 2026 winners, below.
