Raffles London

Raffles is the new London outpost of this luxury group of hotels. Located in the historical old war office, in the heart of Whitehall and just south of Trafalgar Square, Raffles has 120 rooms and no less than nine restaurants and three bars. The restaurant choices range from fine dining (Argentinian chef Mauro Colagreco, Japanese-inspired Kioko by Endo, and Italian Langosteria) to more casual all-day dining (French Café Laperouse, Colagreco’s Mediterranean Saison, classic British The Drawing Room). There is so much choice here and all in an incredible historical setting, and whether I want to just meet someone for a drink, or have lunch/dine, I have not been disappointed.

The wine list is headed up by Vincenzo Arnese, UK Sommelier of the Year champion in 2022, and, previously at 3-starred Alain Ducasse. The different outlets have different wine selections, as appropriate, but throughout there is a focus on sustainable production methods and choices. Whether you want to go for the full wine pairing menu at Mauro Colagreco (you can choose between the Exploratory, the Leisure or the Temperance Routes) or just have a glass of white with your lunch at Laperouse you can be sure that both will be very well curated.
