About Familia Torres
Winegrowers since the 16th century, the Torres Family established their first winery in Vilafranca del Penedès, Barcelona, in 1870—over a century and a half ago. With each generation, the family has bequeathed a deep-rooted passion for viticulture, honouring the land and its traditions while fervently embracing innovation.
Familia Torres has a storied presence in the Catalan regions of Penedès, Conca de Barberà, Priorat, and Costers del Segre. Beyond these, they have expanded their viticultural endeavours to encompass key Spanish wine-producing areas such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, and Rías Baixas. Today they own 1,300 hectare of vineyards and 10 wineries in Spain (Familia Torres, Celler Purgatori, Jean Leon, Vardon Kennett, Pago del Cielo, La Carbonera, Torre Penelas and Pazo Torre Penelas). Their reach also extends globally to the vineyards of Chile and California.
The current, fifth generation of Familia Torres is dedicated to crafting exceptional wines from singular vineyards and historic estates. They are pioneers in the revival of ancestral grape varieties and the practice of regenerative viticulture, all aimed at tackling the effects of climate change.
Since launching the Torres & Earth programme in 2008, combating climate change has been a central pursuit, implementing strategies to both adapt and mitigate its effects by significantly reducing CO2 emissions. Their objective is to achieve Net Zero emissions by the year 2040.
The winery takes pride in its membership with the Primum Familiae Vini—an exclusive circle of twelve of Europe's most revered family-owned wineries with centuries-old heritage. Additionally, Familia Torres is a co-founder of the International Wineries for Climate Action and the Association of Regenerative Viticulture, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable winemaking practices.
