The Gold Stars at Star Wine List of the Year UK 2026
The winners of Star Wine List of the Year UK 2026 were announced at an awards ceremony in London, in March. These are the venues presented with Gold Stars in the competition.
“It was a privilege and honour to judge these fantastic lists,” says jury member Stephen Wong MW. “The top lists share commonalities: expertise and mastery of their specific fields, sensitive understanding of their audiences, and above all, a confident voice harnessing the vast diversity of cultural influences and heritage which makes the country what it is.”

Best Long List UK, presented by Bibendum 2026
Doppo, a casual Tuscan-accented restaurant, is definitely a hidden gem in the heart of London’s buzzy Soho. With no website, you could easily think it was just a pop up or fly-by-night place. Instead, this is a spot I recommend time and again to visitors in London who just want good wine and food, and would otherwise never discover it. Bookings are taken via an OpenTable reservation link on their Instagram page or through a Google search, and while the process is a little unconventional, it is by no means difficult. The list, at around 700 refere...

Best Medium-Sized List UK, presented by Dreissigacker 2026
A very special place by chef Jonny Lake and wine wizard Isa Bal MS, who met each other at The Fat Duck only to reunite for their own place many years later. Trivet is underpinned by a partnership where the magic of food and wine together was integral to the creation of this venture, with both taking the stage equally. Exceptional dishes in an atmosphere of unpretentious ease make for a bright and welcoming place. The clever list is curated to depict wine’s historical and cultural journey, ordered in a timeline then by country, starting from 7,000 B.C. with Georgia, Armenia and Turkey. With ov...

Best Short List UK, presented by The Buyer 2026
This Georgian restaurant, tucked just off Regent Street, brings the heritage of both the country’s cuisine and wine culture to London. Open-fire cooking enhances your experience at the counter seats as you watch the action unfold. By day, the dining room has a calmer atmosphere, while in the evening the mood transforms into a darker, candle lit space filled with convivial and lively energy. Wine is naturally very present here, as it should be for a restaurant honouring one of the world’s oldest winemaking countries. A hand-drawn blackboard map is helpful for those not familiar with the many s...

Be ready for the tome-like wine list – with 2,400 listings, you will find almost anything you could wish for, be it traditional, innovative or saké. They have optimised Coravin, offering n...

Best Newcomer List UK 2026
The second venue by the successful duo who launched Trivet. Named after chef Jonny Lake’s imaginary restaurant from his school project aged 13. His teacher asked, “Où sont les boissons?”. This critique has now been answered after finding his partner in wine, Master Sommelier Isa Bal, while both working at the Fat Duck. Isa’s mischievous personality defines the construct of the euro-centric wine list’s presentation. The B-list at the back of the wine book includes wine regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, Barolo, Brunello and Barbaresco – all the B’s – which just happen to be some of the worlds be...

Sustainability Prize UK, presented by Esterházy 2026
A true sustainability jewel, St Barts is the only restaurant in London to have both a Michelin star and a Michelin Green Star. Hidden away in Smithfield, it has a distinctive atmosphere, set against the medieval backdrop of the city’s oldest surviving church, St Bartholomew the Great. The food is sophisticated, centred on British sourcing, strong supplier relationships and a commitment to minimal waste. This ethos extends naturally into the décor, where hand-crafted furniture and stylish design details reinforce the restaurant’s philosophy. Evenings bring their signature tasting menu, your jo...

Best Austrian Wine List UK, presented by Austrian Wine 2026
Newcomer is the home, shop and wine bar of Newcomer Wines, an importer of largely new wave Austrian wine producers, peppered with a few from Germany, Switzerland and France. The drink in and takeaway list is fleshed out further with wines from other importers. The interior and set up is functional and low key, with a small patio garden space for al fresco drinking when the British weather allows. They serve top quality cheese and charcuterie style snacks and often have guest chefs hosting dinners or cooking for a stint.

Special Jury Prize UK 2026
Do not underestimate this casual, buzzy restaurant. OMA exploded onto the London dining scene in April 2024, receiving a Michelin star alongside the 2025 Star Wine List of the Year UK Best Newcomer award in its very first year. Both the food and the wine draw inspiration from the Mediterranean and Levant, with the list curated like choices for a vacation getaway. Will you travel to sun-kissed coastline shores influenced by the sea and mineral sands? Or venture inland to mountains, valleys and rolling hills? Some diners may even choose to be transported to Mediterranean islands surrounded by sa...

Best Rosé Wine List UK, presented by Château Galoupet 2026
A six-bedroom guesthouse with a 1,200 bottle cellar, The Terrace Wine & Rooms in Ventnor on the the Isle of Wight, is quite something. Husband and wife team Tom and Ashley bought the property in 2021, undertaking a year-long restoration. Sitting rather glamorously on the Ventnor Cascades overlooking the sea, the bedrooms are chic, the lounge with log fire sumptuous, and the light-flooded breakfast room unbeatable. It ticks all your boutique hotel boxes with the added charm of feeling like you’re also staying with your most stylish and fun friends – and that’s before you’ve seen the wine room...

Best Spanish Wine List UK, presented by Familia Torres 2026
The team behind the popular (and great) Brat restaurant in Shoreditch has done it again, this time in Soho. We would probably define this as a fine-casual-dining restaurant if we could, and fine it is. With two levels of dining and bar seating on both floors, you can either reserve a table for lunch or dinner, or drop in. The cuisine has a lot of cooking over fire, just like Brat, and there are bites, small dishes and mains to choose from. With the staff knowing what they do, we simply ask them for navigation. Wine-wise, well, it follows in the footsteps of Brat but does even better – Mounta...

Best Riesling Wine List UK, presented by Dr. Lippold 2026
Claridge’s Restaurant sits within its namesake luxury hotel in London’s Mayfair. It is the perfect place to feel both decadent and relaxed at the same time – a difficult balance and one they successfully achieve. The wine list is extensive – incredibly strong in the classic regions though there is exploration to be had. Venture into places like China or Slovenia, or take on the well-integrated skin-contact wines. Champagne is particularly well represented, with striking full-page producer features to linger over. Without favouring any one particular region, nice verticals can be discovered as...
