Bacchanalia Wine List
About Bacchanalia
An edible Mediterranean odyssey is the order of the day here, an opulent and deliciously over the top celebration of the ancient story of Bacchanalia, and if the interior is anything to go by, a feast for the eyes as much as the palate.
The menu is Greek/Italian and everything is to be shared, not least the decadent Bacchus Feasting ‘dishes for the table’.
The wine list is suitably immense – 650 references from Greece, Italy, France and beyond – and as such no major region is left undrunk. There’s vintage Champagne galore, and English fizz even gets a polite look in.
Whites and reds are sectioned into Ancient World (Greece and Italy), Old World (France and the rest of Europe) and New World to round things off. It’s great to see Greek wines receive proper representation, both in number and age.
Italian reds feature in a range that is claimed to be the world's largest collection of Super Tuscans. It’s noted they list not one but 25 one-hundred-point wines from Italy in total. There are buckets of the best from Bordeaux, and it's fair to say the list more than lives up to the name above the door.
I’m not sure Bacchus would approve of drinking by the glass but, if you must, it is possible although prices rise steeply.
