“Southeast Asia did not come to play” – meet the 2026 wine list winners
The winners of Star Wine List of the Year Southeast Asia 2026 were announced at ProWine Singapore on Tuesday, 21st April, with Bangkok and host city Singapore scooping all 12 of the Gold Stars. From giants of previous competitions back to defend their titles to wholly new faces to this competition, these are the best wine lists in the region.
Star Wine List of the Year is our celebration of the world’s best wine lists, with this year’s competition in Southeast Asia seeing repeat victories for former international champions alongside first-time accolades for a host of new entrants. It has made for a thrilling competition that drew an excited crowd of sommeliers to the ProWine trade fair in Singapore; Gold Stars were presented by Star Wine List’s Rachel Fellows and jury member Richard Hemming MW, representing his fellow judges Ferran Centelles and Stephen Wong MW.
“Southeast Asia did not come to play,” said Wong once judging was complete. “In keeping with the ceaseless rhythm of life and change in this dynamic part of the world, the best programmes have continued to astound and even surprise: previous winners who’ve held onto their lead have more than earned their place through continuous improvement. So much so, in fact, that the finest lists are now in a class of their own. It is therefore even more impressive to witness the monumental efforts undertaken by their peers to challenge the throne. It was, without a doubt, a uniquely masochistic delight to immerse ourselves in the vastness of Southeast Asia’s truly diverse wine lists once again this year.”
Double Gold Stars were awarded to Convivial (Singapore), Inddee and Haoma (both Bangkok), all of whom have performed strongly in other years. Indeed, while Convivial is enjoying its second year as Best Sparkling List, Inddee has earned a hat trick in the medium and by-the-glass categories, with Haoma now taking the sustainability award for a staggering fourth time in a row, along with the Best Short List prize for a third consecutive year.
While these titans of the competition are clearly forces to be reckoned with, they have been joined by five new entrants to Star Wine List of the Year: Singapore’s Jin Ting Wan, Spago by Wolfgang Puck and temper. Wine Room & Lounge (another double winner, which only opened in September 2025), and Bangkok’s Cannubi by Umberto Bombana, Ms. Maria and Mr. Singh and The Wine Merchant Park Silom.

Winners in the ‘international’ categories will now go on to compete in the Star Wine List of the Year Global Final 2026 – this grand finale to the world tour will take place in southern Sweden in June 2026, hosted by Terra Skåne.

What the judges said:
“This category took the most deliberation as the standard of long lists in Southeast Asia is incredibly high. The winning list wielded the tools of this category to full effect: depth and thoroughness, clear points of view without yielding to dogma, and most of all, offering an almost crippling diversity of choice across the world of wine – every bottle earning its place despite the lack of size limitations. A wine-lover's nirvana.”

What the judges said:
“This list impressed every member of the jury. It is as beautifully presented as it is well-stocked. Thoughtful pictograms guide and inform, while the organisation by wine style makes it highly intuitive. The playful blind-tasting option adds an extra layer of engagement, and the balance between adventurous, hard-to-find wines and some remarkable verticals is simply spot on. We particularly appreciated the opportunity to read about the producers directly within the list. Informative, precise, and curated with great expertise.”

We would even go as far as to say that not a single wine feels out of place – every selection has a clear purpose. And the charming caricatures of producers add a playful touch to the experience.”

This is what ultimately won the jury over in this high-calibre field.”

Beautifully designed maps make navigating the list both intuitive and enjoyable. The selection is further enriched by international wines and an extraordinary section of vintages from the 1940s to the 1980s – a true paradise for those who appreciate rare bottles.”

LOCAL CATEGORIES:
Best Bordeaux Wine List
A category presented by Château Tour des Termes
Gold Star:
The Wine Merchant Park Silom, Bangkok, Thailand
What the judges said:
“In a crowded field, the best Bordeaux list must bring together not only the greatest classified reds across multiple vintages, but also the dry and sweet whites, which are sometimes overlooked. Including some of the lesser-known but better-value bottles is an important factor, while maintaining high accuracy and navigability in presentation. This list ticks all those boxes – it’s a treasure trove of Bordeaux.”
