The winners of Star Wine List of the Year Southeast Asia 2026 were announced at ProWine Singapore in April 2026. Here is where you’ll find this year’s Gold Stars.

“Southeast Asia did not come to play,” said judge Stephen Wong MW. “In keeping with the ceaseless rhythm of life and change in this dynamic part of the world, the best programmes have continued to astound and even surprise … It was, without a doubt, a uniquely masochistic delight to immerse ourselves in the vastness of Southeast Asia’s truly diverse wine lists once again this year.”

Best By-the-Glass List Southeast Asia, presented by Stölzle Lausitz 2026

Located in a beautiful old villa, both exterior and interior scream fine dining, but the service here is warm, genuine and passionate. The food is Indian, made with modern techniques and presentations while flavours are kept traditional, full of depth and complexity. Prices are reasonable, all things considered. Sommelier Jay Bottorff has been given carte blanche to make his dream wine list, which has resulted in a wonderfully eclectic selection with a great balance between classic and progressive, aged and young, affordable and indulgent. It is clearly made with a lot of heart, and its many...

  5. Cannubi by Umberto Bombana, a restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand.

    Phone: 02 200 9000

Address: L Floor, 98 Thanon Rama IV, Si Lom, Khet Bang Rak

Best Italian Wine List Southeast Asia 2026

Cannubi is the Bangkok outpost of legendary Italian chef Umberto Bombana, perhaps most famous for his three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Hong Kong, 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana. His Bangkok restaurant in the centrally located Dusit Thani Bangkok hotel in Silom, is a more relaxed and casual experience than his Hong Kong restaurant, while still being professional and sharp. Food is kept elegant and light with great flavours and at somewhat reasonable prices, considering the level of cooking, the ingredients, and the five-star hotel location. The focus of the wine list is (of course) on Piedmont...

Located on top of the famed Gaggan Chef Table, this eclectic but homely restaurant serves a delicious blend of Mexican and Indian cuisine. Flavours are kept classic and intense, presentations are imaginative and colourful with high-quality produce being used throughout the menu. The service is passionate and laid-back and prices are reasonable, making this restaurant a great choice for both a relaxed weekday curry and a weekend indulgence with a group of friends. One of the best lists in Bangkok for low-intervention wines from around the globe. The list features wines primarily from smaller...

  7. Jin Ting Wan, a restaurant in Singapore.

    Phone: +65 668 899 69

Address: 10 Bayfront Avenue, Marina Bay Sands, Hotel, Level 55 Tower 1, Singapore

Special Jury Prize Southeast Asia 2026

There is a difference between being brave and deciding to lead. Marina Bay Sands has never needed bravery, it needs only to decide and the market follows. This wine list is a statement of intent made from a position of strength, and one of the most exciting things to happen to the Singapore wine scene in years. I’ve had my fair share of wine lists in luxury Chinese restaurants in Singapore, as well as in China, to know what tokenism looks like. Jin Ting Wan, located high on top of Marina Bay Sands, is one of the latest stars in the hotel’s collection of restaurants. The sommelier team has or...

  8. Spago by Wolfgang Puck, a restaurant in Singapore.

    Phone: +65 6688 9955

Address: 10 Bayfront Avenue, Hotel, Tower 2 Level 57, Marina Bay Sands, 018956

Best California Wine List Southeast Asia, presented by Robert Mondavi Winery 2026

The tricky decision is what to admire most: Spago’s extensive and comprehensive wine list, or its commanding view of Singapore from the top floor of Marina Bay Sands. Both are spectacular. There are more than 40 pages of wines that represent a truly global selection. The by-the-glass section includes tried-and-tested options that will satisfy every palate, with a separate Coravin list that allows for some big-hitting names. In addition, there is an admirable collection of half bottles covering all the major regions of France and Italy, plus a few choices from California and Australia. But...

  9. The interior of Convivial wine and Champagne bar in Singapore.

    Phone: +65 8076 5674

Address: The Offshore, 11 North Canal Road, #01-01, Singapore 048824

Best Sparkling Wine List Southeast Asia 2026

Convivial is a work of passion by sommelier champion Yeo Xi Yang. It was the first and only Champagne-focused bar in Singapore, putting many a naysayer to rest. “Asians do not like sparkling wines and bubbles!” is a statement of the past. It is indeed true that sparkling wines as aperitifs were hard sells back when I was working the floor, but Yang stepped in and ripped all these ideas apart. Champagnes are naturally higher value and do indeed create a bigger hole in the pocket. But if it makes you happy, what's the problem? At Convivial, you will also find well-selected bar grub in the form...
