Hotell Borgholm, located in the central part of Borgholm, is one of the most renowned restaurants in Sweden. In 2022 they turned 50 (!) years old. Hotell Borgholm was up until 2019 run by Karin & Owe Fransson. Karin was the head chef, while Owe built one of the largest collections of wine in Sweden with over 1,000 references. In 2019 Karin & Owe retired, and now Christofer Johansson is running the restaurant. He protects the legacy of Karin & Owe but has also put a more modern touch on the establishment, both with the interior and in the style of cooking. At Hotell Borgholm, you can choose t...

Astrids is a small neighbourhood gem outside Stockholm city – you take the green subway line around 15 minutes from the city centre to get there. The place itself is modest but homely and cosy. The food is bistro-style, with dishes like beef tartar, fish soup and entrecôte (also several dishes to choose from for the kids), well-executed and tasty. The wine list is not the biggest, but impressive for being a small place on the outskirts of Stockholm. A bit over 100 different wines to choose from by the bottle and around ten by the glass. The list is leaning towards France, especially Burgundy...

Pierre Norrby opened the doors to Glou Glou Vinbar in spring 2024, on the corner of Apotekaregatan and Storgatan in Linköping. To have his own wine bar is a dream come true – and the local wine lovers couldn’t be happier! As the name indicates, there are a lot of easy-drinking wines here. If you pop in for a quick glass of wine, you might find yourself wanting to stay the whole evening – the atmosphere is personal, and the food served is well prepared. The menu isn't huge but there's something for everyone, with several small dishes and a few larger mains; produce is often sourced from smalle...

A couple of years after finding success with Meetly Vallastaden, Torsten Rosell and his team decided to open a sister wine bar in the heart of Linköping. The building on Storgatan has housed wine bars before, so the atmosphere was already in the walls, and the Meetly concept is instantly recognisable here – industrial interior design, an extensive selection of wines by the glass, and prices written directly on the bottles displayed along the walls. The menu is wine-friendly, mainly featuring small dishes that can easily be combined into a full meal if desired. A few full-sized dishes are usua...

At Restaurang Jord in Linköping, there’s a common thread running through everything they do – sustainability and locality are the driving forces here, and over the years they’ve earned several prestigious awards for this outlook. Their philosophy isn’t just something that shows up on the plate or looks good on paper – it’s woven into every detail. The glassware comes from nearby Reijmyre Glasbruk, the digestif trolley is stocked with Swedish-made spirits, and a Morakniv knife is set out alongside your cut of meat. They aim to keep food waste as close to zero as they can, making use of almost e...

Ambitious cuisine, at a level just below the michelin stars in town.
