On June 24, sommeliers and restaurant teams from around the world gathered Stockholm for the wine list celebration Star Wine List of the Year – the grand final of the Star Wine List world tour 2023-2024. Chambers in New York City, US, won the category Sustainable Wine List, presented by presented by Oddbird.

”I’m really sorry that I couldn’t be there today to share this very special moment for me and for the whole team at the restaurant. We’re very proud of this prize, so thank you to the jury and to Star Wine List. I really couldn’t believe it, because when I saw all these amazing finalists I was like … wow, there are som many amazing initiatives now, all around the world, to really promote and share, and make sustainability not a dream but a reality. So I must say bravo to all the finalists and to all that are committed to support that idea of how to work,” said Chamber’s Pascaline Lepeltier on a video message from New York.

For the Sustainable Wine List category, not only the wine list is evaluated, but also the stated actions of the venue, as described through a questionnaire in the application.

”This list really shows what sustainability taken to the core of a wine program can look like. The thought put towards the list goes beyond the expected, constantly challenging itself too, ensuring the work continues and never stops. In a few years' time, I hope this becomes the standard level, but at the moment it really defines what a sustainable wine list can be. Chapeau!” said the jury’s Heidi Mäkinen.

Moa Gürbüzer from Oddbird handed out the diploma on stage.

"Oddbird is producing almost two million bottles a year now, and I’m really proud to present this category, because everything we do is centred around sustainability. We started with one goal, that you as hosts would be able to ask your guest ’do you want your wine woth or without alcohol’. I used to be a family threapist, and I've seen my fair share of family problems due to people not being able to handle aclohol. I want to make life people better for these people," she said and brought down a round of applause.
