About Les Résistants

Nestled in the heart of the 10th arrondissement, Les Résistants covers two floors on the corner of Rue du Château-d’Eau and Rue de Lancry. It has a cosy bistro atmosphere and feels like a neighbourhood joint I would visit frequently had I lived in the area. The co-owner of this, and several other Les Résistants, Florent Piard, and Head Chef Clément, have a deep focus on local French produce and have spent hours, days, weeks and months traveling the country to source the best produce they can find.

As a guest you experience this through the lovely dishes that are provided by enthusiastic staff members, who tell you all about the origins of the veggies, meat, butter and even the salt. Absolutely no industrially produced food is served, and the small farmers around the country who supply the restaurants are called “résistants” by Florent and his team. They are true “fighters” in the sense that they fight to be able to keep on producing, farming, nursing come rain or shine or bureaucracy. In other words, foodies who care about the origin and welfare of what they are served have definitely come to the right place here. And all this at reasonable prices, still ensuring payment for the suppliers – I mean the résistants – and sustainable.

True to the concept, the wine list consists solely of French wines and beverages, all the way down to their single malts. As someone without a great knowledge of low-intervention wines, I was still happy to recognise numerous lovely producers from different regions that I did recognise. Thanks to the team spirit of the staff as well as the knowledge and the willingness to share it with the guests, there is no need to feel lost when browsing the list.

The staff will lend a helpful hand and make sure to recommend something that everyone around the table will enjoy. The last page of the wine list offers an exciting selection of vermouth, ratafia, Macvin, Vin Jaune and more, all available by the glass.

  • Being sustainable today should be a given for any restaurant carrying about its guests, suppliers and staffs. Yet it is still too rare to see it applied at every level; production, sourcing, logistics, day-to-day operation, curation, and eduction. This is what this group is doing in all its restaurants, going way beyond a very exciting wine selections. This should be a source of inspirations for all of us! says Pascaline Lepeltier about the Sustainable Wine List gold in Star Wine List of the Year France 2024.
