About Les Résistants - Le Comptoir
Alongside La Table, committed to short circuits and living wine from the outset, Le Comptoir is the wine bar offshoot of the Les Résistants group, founded by Florent Piard around the same creed, in a more laid-back format – a handful of unpretentious tables, small sharing plates, and long shelves offering a glimpse of the visible portion of a selection of abyssal depth.
The cellar, some of whose references don’t necessarily appear on the list, lines up over a thousand references from the Rhône Valley, the Jura, Burgundy and Anjou, alongside lesser-known rising stars from across the French vineyard – with pride of place given to natural and biodynamic wines. Regular vigneron dinners, where the finest of the French vineyard and their sometimes impossible-to-find cuvées are on show, and the déjeuners arrosés (“boozy lunches”) with references served at cellar-shop prices, seal the deal making this one of the finest wine addresses on the Right Bank – where it’s not unusual to find sommeliers, agents and winemakers at the next table, which is always an excellent sign.
