Inddee in Bangkok, Thailand, won two categories when Star Wine List of the Year returned to Asia to celebrate the best wine lists and the teams behind them for the second time on May 29 – one of them being Best By the Glass List, presented by Chateau Montus & Chateau Bouscassé.

"Wow, I did not expect to win this. I am very glad to be here. I am really glad to be part of Star Wine List and I’m happy to see so many of my old friends here," said Thanakorn “Jay” Bottorff, Head Sommelier.

“A creative, quirky, poetic but also fun list that offers an incredible content and lots of flexibility in the offering by the glass with different portion sizes, flights, origins of the wines and of course the styles available. Superb and eye-catching," said jury member Julie Dupouy-Young, several times named the Best Sommelier of Ireland.

Inddee also won a Gold Star in the category Best Medium-Sized List.

The Silver Star winners in the by-the-glass category were:

Andō, Hong Kong
Bar Cyclone, Hong Kong
Chi-Fu, Osaka, Japan
Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic, Hong Kong
Haoma, Bangkok, Thailand
MAZ, Tokyo, Japan
Potager, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Restaurant (Villa 32), Taipei, Taiwan

One-Michelin-starred Inddee serves Indian food, made with modern techniques and presentations while flavours are kept traditional Indian. Star Wine List's ambassadors Fredrik Wohlrabe and Rasmus Poll hava described the wine list as "clearly made with a lot of heart and its many small stories, games and curious details further enhance the enjoyment of reading". They continue to describe it as "one of Bangkok’s best wine lists".

Asia is included to our 2023-2024 International tour, and this was the second time we were running it in Asia. The event was held live during Vinexpo in Hong Kong on May 29. Chi-Fu is now qualified for the International Final in Stockholm in June where they will face off with winners from around the world.

The jury for the second Star Wine List of the Year competition in Asia included a top line-up of esteemed wine experts. The four-person panel consisted of:

Categories and criteria

Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.

The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: Vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
