Star Wine List of the Year Asia – 29 May
On May 29 we will return to Asia to celebrate the best wine lists and the teams behind them for the second time. Restaurants and wine bars are welcome to enter, free of charge.
Asia will be included to our 2023-2024 International tour, and this is the second time we are running it in Asia. Star Wine List of the Year Asia will be held at Vinexpo Asia in Hong Kong on May 29.
How to register
Registrations have been open for venues from the markets where Star Wine List is already active: Greater China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taipei; Japan; Malaysia; Singapore; South Korea and Thailand. Entering our awards is free of charge. Last day to enter was Sunday March 31, 2024.
Jury
The jury for the second Star Wine List of the Year competition in Asia has been confirmed, and includes a top line-up of esteemed wine experts who will be poring over the wine lists in an attempt to identify the very best.
The four-person panel will consist of:
Pascaline Lepeltier, Best Sommelier of France 2018
Julie Dupouy-Young, several times named the Best Sommelier of Ireland
Heidi Mäkinen, Master of Wine
Reeze Choi, Third Best Sommelier of the World 2023 (ASI)
Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: Vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.

• Grand Prix
The best list overall
• Best Long List, presented by Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné
For wine lists with more than 600 references.
• Best Medium-Sized List, presented by Dreissigacker
200-600 references.
• Best Short List
<200 references.
• Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine
• Best Sparkling Wine List, presented by Nyetimber
• Best California Wine List, presented by Louis M. Martini
• Best By the Glass List, presented by Chateau Montus & Chateau Bouscassé
• Best Newcomer List, presented by DAOU
• Sustainable Wine List
For the Sustainable Wine List category, not only the wine list is evaluated, but also the stated actions of the venue, as described through a questionnaire in the application.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2024, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
