Traditional East-end pub on trendy Hackney Road with brilliant food using the best British ingredients; a mix of impeccable pub classics – the pie for two is unmissable.There are some slightly more restaurant-y style plates, all seasonal and produce-led, and a short but interesting, natural-leaning wine list.

There are also some serious grower Champagnes, several skin contact and glasses at fantastic value, particularly for a London venue. The main circa-50-bottle list covers most price points, with a handful of ‘from the cellar’ specials priced accordingly.

Cosy, traditional and contemporary, you have the choice of the pub downstairs, the restaurant upstairs, or the little roof terrace for the lesser-spotted warmer weather.
