HIDE wins Best Sparkling Wine List in the UK 2025

The UK's Best Sparkling Wine List can be found at London's HIDE restaurant, as announce at Star Wine List of the Year with The Buyer 2025.
At an awards ceremony on 3 March in London, Mayfair restaurant HIDE was presented with a Gold Star for the Best Sparkling Wine List by category sponsor Nyetimber. “We like large formats, we like sparkling wine and it really fits in with the cuisine that we do,” said Matthew Mawtus, Director of Food and Beverage, on accepting the award. “We’d really just like to thank you guys for this award and it’s just amazing, thank you!”
Jury member Jan Konetzki explained that HIDE “impressed us with their modesty and restraint, covering sparkling wines from humble Lambrusco to small grower Champagnes. And amongst the alternative bottle sizes, there is a choice of six different methuselahs from well known grand marques... Well, who am I kidding? They probably stock the biggest selection of sparkling wines in the world and they left us speechless!”
HIDE will now compete against the Best Sparkling Wine List winners from across the globe at the Star Wine List of the Year International Final 2025.

Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
