Alchemist wins Best Long List in Denmark 2024
Copenhagen restaurant Alchemist has been awarded Best Long List at the Star Wine List of the Year Denmark awards.
At a ceremony held in Copenhagen on Monday, 2 September, Star Wine List’s expert jury awarded a Gold Star to this experiential fine dining restaurant, located on the island of Refshaleøen in Copenhagen.
"What a surprise," said Head Sommelier Christopher Kok. "We expected something else, so thank you so much. It's really an amazing time for Alchemist and for the sommelier department - we can see something exciting happening. But I promise you, as I promised the somms, that we will not bring more different labels on the list because 3,500 is enough!"
The Gold Star was presented by Julieta Aranguiz Feliu from Argentinian wine producers, Achaval Ferrer, who sponsored the category.
“Although there were several incredibly impressive wine lists amongst the finalists, Alchemist stood out for the diverse selection of origins and producers (some with enviable depth of vineyards and cuvees), varied vintages, and an overall easy-to-navigate layout,” says judge Kathrine Larsen-Robert MS."

Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in summer 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
