Geranium wins Best Sparkling Wine List in Denmark 2024
Copenhagen restaurant Geranium has been awarded a Gold Star for Best Sparkling Wine List, presented by category sponsor Nyetimber at our Danish awards ceremony.
“With prodigious depth and remarkable breadth of Champagnes, this list also ventures into other parts of Europe and gives a sneak peek beyond.,” says judge Stephen Wong MW. “Those with deep pockets will not go wanting when drinking their way through this treasure trove!”
The award was presented at an event in Copenhagen on Monday, 2 September – the first stop on Star Wine List’s international tour 2024/2025. It was one of three awards presented to Geranium, in addition to Best Austrian Wine List and Best Spirits List.
"I’m very happy to be a part of this very big team that Geranium is," said Assistant Head Sommelier Thomas Vanhove on-stage, "because we’re not just the two of us - there’s quite a big team that’s happening. And I’m very happy to work with all the countries that are making sparkling wine."

Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in summer 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
