About La Teca de Vila Viniteca

Can you imagine a small bar where you have access to 5,000 wine references – yes, 5,000 – and more than 350 types of cheese? It sounds impossible, but it isn’t.

This dreamlike place is called La Teca, by Vila Viniteca, located in the heart of the trendy Born district in Barcelona. And this “miracle” exists for a very simple reason: La Teca is located right next door to the Vila Viniteca shop; both the bar and the store are owned by Vila Viniteca, Spain’s leading fine-wine distributor.

In practice, this means you can walk into the shop next door, choose any bottle from their astonishing catalogue of national and international wines, and enjoy it at La Teca. The space itself offers an outstanding selection of charcuterie, the most exclusive preserved foods, luxury Iberian hams, a pa amb tomàquet that is quite simply the best I have ever tasted, and an extraordinary cheese refrigerator. This cheese room also functions as a storage and distribution hub, supplying some of the best restaurants in Spain.

Yes, this extraordinary place really exists. It is a paradise for any wine lover. Let us not forget that Vila Viniteca holds one of the most selective wine cellars in the country, including rare and old vintages. It is worth noting that Quim Vila and his team played a decisive role in introducing producers such as Álvaro Palacios and Peter Sisseck to Spain’s sommelier scene – no small achievement.

As if all this were not enough, the impeccable collection of Riedel glassware, the precision and quality of the service, and a private room for 10 people set in the former underground cellar, make La Teca a true emblem of the finest wine culture in the world.
