The finalists of Star Wine List of the Year New York revealed
The finalists for the very first Star Wine List of the Year New York awards were announced today by Star Wine List's jury. The finalists include several renowned New York wine bars and restaurants like Eleven Madison Park, Franks Wine Bar and La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels. The winners will be announced on 8 March 2023 at Vinexpo America.
Judging wine lists is no easy task at the best of times. But the jurors of the 2023 Star Wine List of the Year New York panel had their work cut out for them, as they confronted a flood of wine lists from top restaurants and wine bars.
"We are truly excited to come to Vinexpo America and reward the great wine lists of New York for the very first time - and we are thrilled to see so many great wine lists among the entries and finalists. See you in New York!” says Krister Bengtsson, Star Wine List’s founder and publisher.
The benchmark for wine lists
Star Wine List of the Year is an international celebration of the great wine lists of the world and the people who create them. In the New York edition, there are eight different categories.
“These are awards that celebrate the work of those who work at the very pinnacle of wine,” says Krister.
The panel of judges is studded with stars: renowned sommelier and winemaker Rajat Parr; top Canadian sommelier Véronique Rivest; Master of Wine and Master Sommelier Doug Frost; and Christy Canterbury MW.
The final will take place at 3.30 p.m. during Vinexpo America, where winners will be presented with Gold Star certificates and other prizes by Star Wine List founder Krister Bengtsson, accompanied the jury and Norwegian wine media star Liora Levi, who is also Star Wine List’s Ambassador Manager.
The winners will then qualify for our International Final in June, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents, such as South Africa, Australia, UK and Sweden.
