About Penny

Penny is the upstairs sibling of Claud, in the East Village. This raw seafood counter restaurant has received rave reviews for its casual and friendly take on the genre, and the seafood offering really is first rate.

Chase Sinzer and Ellis Srubas-Giammanco shared the Michelin Sommelier Award in 2024, and Star Wine List readers will recognise Ellis’ name from his work with Pascaline Lepeltier at Chambers.

As we write this, the wine list runs to over 85 pages, and we would love to indulge in pretty much all of its producers from Champagne, Burgundy, Jura and the Loire. Germany, Austria, Italy and even Japan get their fair share, too. Penny has already been a finalist in our Star Wine List of the Year awards for New York, and we can’t wait to see where it goes next.
