About kontakt wino & bistro

Kontakt is a project showing all the fun you’d expect from wine bars in Paris, Berlin or Copenhagen. It became the new kid on the block when it opened in early 2025 – a new kind of space, representing the idea of comfort with well-executed food and a great, progressive wine list.

Located in the Mokotów district of Warsaw, not far from downtown, Kontakt is nonetheless somehow hidden from the main streets – it takes two turns (or five to 10 minutes of walking) to get there.

Very casual but with huge attention to detail, this is bistro style with attractive plating and a somm team that seems to get your point right away. With all sympathy and respect to other teams in Poland, Kontakt’s staff seems to be the most experienced and professional whilst remaining casual at the same time. Piotr Pietras is in charge of the team, one of few Master Sommeliers in the world you can be served by. He is helped by Maciej Łyko, one of the top somms in the country, who got his experience in London.

There are two main areas: the bistro, and then an underground floor space with a bar serving natural wines – a space for ‘juice’ drinkers that’s very casual, presenting equally new wave wines and the big city vibe you expect to find in the capital. The underground floor also has a big room for special events, tastings, master classes and so on.

Plates are small or medium in size and, just to give you an idea, you’ll need around two to four courses during your visit. The food reinterprets Polish classics in a somehow lighter manner, with more elegance – licking good and always made with great quality products.

About the kontakt wino & bistro Wine List

Most of the selection comes from Terroiryści wine importers, but they do use others too. With over 400 wines, the list is about wine growers and terroir-driven producers – people that are focused on very defined spaces. Mostly sourced from Europe, it shows great attention to small wine growers with special room made for the Champagne region (it always includes many fantastic producers, like Benoit Marguet, Ruppert-Leroy, Bérèche & Fils, David Léclapart). There is a strong representation of new-wave producers, such as Marnes Blanches from the Jura, Bruno Murciano or Comando G from Spain, Jurtschitsch or Maria and Sepp Muster from Austria. New World producers could include Matthiasson, Cathy Corison, Gentle Folk or Mac Forbes. But, of course, it all depends on when you visit.

Something not so obvious in wine bars is proper glassware; Kontakt has a big range of Riedel, so don’t worry!
