About Caiño
Caiño is a wine bar with a special nod to Galician wines (“Caiño” is the name of a Galician grape variety). Located near one of the most central and beautiful parks in Madrid (El Retiro), Caiño merges the essence of an authentic tavern with the sophistication of a modern wine bar. It is a meeting point for both beginners and wine lovers.
The project is led by Carmen Gonzalez-Llanos and supported by the Head Sommelier Lucía Araque (formerly of Angelita Madrid), who defines herself as a “21st-century tavern keeper.” Her philosophy is the enjoyment of wine in a casual way and with zero snobbery, bringing wine culture closer in an approachable and educational manner.
The list is dynamic, with high rotation and a minimum of 15 wines available by the glass. It focuses on labels from small winemakers, and local grape varieties, seeking out curious and low-intervention references. It includes national and international wines, always aiming to surprise.
They offer weekly tastings in various formats for sensory journeys.
