The latest edition to the Crispin Group (Bar Crispin is in Soho) the 45-cover Bistro Freddie in trendy Shoreditch showcases the best of British produce in French inspired dishes, waiting to be washed down by an all-French list.
Organised by region, there’s a comprehensive yet manageable number in each sub-section, with bottles to please both classic and more experimental palates, from the country’s best vignerons. Of the 200+ bottles most are fairly priced, and it's nice to see Alsace, Savoie & Jura, Beaujolais and Bordeaux/SW being given equal billing alongside the Loire, Rhone and Burgundy. Plus a decent handful of artisanal ciders, and a similar number of traditional method regional fizz as grower Champagne.
