Växjö hotel and restaurant PM & Vänner won the Grand Prix for the overall best wine list in Sweden during the Star Wine List of the Year 2019. It was the second time in two years for the restaurant with the massive wine list.

”Obviously we’re very happy. There’s a lot of extraordinary wine programs and talented sommeliers around Sweden,” says Rubén Sanz Ramiro,” head sommelier at PM & Vänner.

In total there were eight categories in Star Wine List of the Year 2019, and PM & Vänner also won gold in the two categories Austrian Wine List and German Wine List.

”It is a strong, beautiful list. If you put it back to the perspective of the wine world, there are so few restaurants in the world that are able to build something like that. I want to applaud that, and the pricing was still very good,” said jury member Pascaline Lepeltier, Master Sommelier and managing partner at Racines in New York.

The jury in 2019 included Arvid Rosengren, Best sommelier of the World 2016, Pascaline Lepeltier, Master Sommelier and Best Sommelier of France 2018, Mischa Billing, educator and sommelier, and Star Wine List's founder Krister Bengtsson. The winner won a Gold star, the other finalists Silver stars.

The finalists were:

  • AG, Stockholm
  • Djuret, Stockholm
  • Ett Hem, Stockholm
  • Grand Hotel, Stockholm
  • PM & Vänner, Växjö
