Best Rhône Wine List in France award goes to Maison Pic
On February 12, Star Wine List went to France to celebrate the best wine lists and the teams behind them for the first time. Maison Pic in Valence won the national category Best Rhône Wine List, presented by Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné.
"This venue has an incredibly long list of Rhône wines with various maturity levels and specific origins. The depth of the list allows space for both well established names and newcomers and is a true flagship offering for the whole region," says jury member Heidi Mäkinen MW.
Maison Pic – the flagship of the Pic empire, stretching as far away as Singapore and London – also won the categories Best Austrian Wine List, Best Long List and the prestigious Grand Prix.
The Silver Star winners in the Rhône category were:
l'Âme Sœur, Lyon
L’épicerie des Alpes, Les Deux Alpes
La Dame de Pic Paris, Paris
La Table de Yoann Conte, Veyrier du Lac
Le Bout du Monde, Beaune
Le Petit Sommelier, Paris
Restaurant RATN, Paris

Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: Vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
