Maison Pic won Best Austrian Wine List in France
When Star Wine List went to France to celebrate the best wine lists and the teams behind them for the first time on February 12, Maison Pic in Valence won the category Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine.
"The love of Austrian wine is showed in the list and we would love to have much more. Everyone knows how challenging it can be to sell Austria in France, but we are delighted to show the wineries we like and that we have on the market. Austrian wine is a such a great category," says Paz Levinson, Executive Head Sommelier at Maison Pic.
"A very serious selection of Austrian wines, with some of the top names, both for white and red wines and some mature vintages," says jury member Jeremy Cukierman MW.
Maison Pic is the flagship of the Pic empire, stretching as far away as Singapore and London. The main Maison sits on a Valence street, and the one in Valence is the main Maison. The wine list here is filled with great wines from both grand and humble appellations.
During Star Wine List of the Year France, Maison Pic also won Gold Stars in the categories Grand Prix, Best Long List and Best Rhône Wine List.
The Silver Star winners in the Austrian category were:

Star Wine List of the Year France is included in our 2023-2024 International tour and Maison Pic will now qualify for the International final in June 2024 where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.

Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: Vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.

Austrian Wine
The Austrian Wine Marketing Board is based in Vienna, and is a national service body for the Austrian wine industry. The aim is to strategically support, coordinate and maintain quality and sales.
