Tripletta

Tripletta on Södermalm, in Stockholm, is the third opening of an Italian restaurant with high ambition at this address. The venue has previously housed both the acclaimed Lo Scudetto and La Vecchia Signora, and behind this venture is – once again – experienced restaurateur Robert Rudinski. Fittingly enough, “triplett” also means “hat trick”, so the football references of the previous names are retained.

Tripletta focuses on modern Italian food with seasonal ingredients, and from a variety of different regions in the country (unlike La Vecchia Signora, which had a Piedmont focus). It serves everything from quality charcuterie and tartare to agnolotti, saltimbocca and osso buco. Everything is well prepared with a lovely soul-food feel, and even though the premises have had a design boost, the relaxed charm and neighbourhood restaurant vibe remain intact.

The wine list is also still colourful and solid. The focus is on Europe in general and Italy in particular. The wines are fairly priced, and with food as vinous as it’s possible to be, it's hard to go wrong.

For anyone who likes hearty cooking, a big atmosphere, and plenty of wine to choose from, Tripletta hits the spot.
