A lively spot, the pace is fast – verging on furious – at this excellent seafood-driven restaurant, which packs out every day for lunch. The sister establishment to Rafael, El Mercado’s menu is dictated by the day’s catch, and could include dishes such as as simple and refreshing ceviche, Peruvian classics such a hearty tacu tacu seafood rice, or fideuá Donosti with prawns and scallops, and Bomba rice ‘Marítimo’ with lobster tartare and crustacean alioli.
The 110-label wine list created by sommelier Alex Mendoza Castro is white-driven, spanning the Old and New Worlds, from the likes of Alvaredos Godello to Rías Baixas Albariño, Chilean Sauvignon Blanc and Mendoza Grüner Veltliner.
