About Astrid y Gastón
In its previous life, 17th-century Casa Moreyra was a glorious hacienda in Lima’s San Isidro neighbourhood; today, it recounts a new narrative as the home of flagship restaurant Astrid & Gastón. The restaurant belongs to Peruvian chefs Astrid Gutsche and Gastón Acurio and regularly ranks in the World's 50 Best Restaurants list.
Talented executive chef Jorge Muñoz puts together both à la carte – many dishes are for sharing – and a tasting menu, the latter revamped twice a year. He sources ingredients from around Peru to create inspired dishes such as chupe fish soup and Peking guinea pig. Dine in one of three spaces including the hacienda’s stunning original terrace or the casual light and bright dining room.
About the Astrid y Gastón Wine List
While many diners opt for Jorge Muñoz’s impeccable 15-course tasting menu that head sommelier José Carrera pairs with 12 beverages including wine, beer and rum, the 399-label wine list covers both New and Old World vintages, with particular love for Jerez.
The list runs the gamut from Old World classics to current trends appearing in South America such as biodynamic wines, and Carrera is keen to appreciate the work of small producers who create fresh wines that harmonise with the menu. The by-the-glass range is one of the largest in Lima, with 50 options that covers many styles.
