Star Wine List's International Open is back. Join our online competition from anywhere in the world.
We are proud to host awards in many countries across the globe but, for those without a designated regional competition, we welcome entries to our digital event: the International Open. This year, it will be held on 22 April 2025.
If your country or region is listed below, then please refer to your individual Star Wine List of the Year event page. If not, then we would love to hear from you – we welcome entries from anywhere else in the world.

Star Wine List of the Year International Open 2025
Judges
The jury panel for the Star Wine List of the Year International Open 2025 includes four internationally-recognised sommeliers:
• Nina Jensen – Second-Best Sommelier of the World, 2019 and 2023 (ASI)
• Kathrine Larsen-Robert – Master Sommelier
• Stefan Neumann – Master Sommelier
• Julie Dupouy-Young – four-time Best Sommelier in Ireland
Categories and criteria
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
THE CATEGORIES
INTERNATIONAL CATEGORIES:
• Grand Prix
The best list of the overall competition.
• Best Long List
For wine lists with more than 600 references.
• Best Medium-Sized List
200-600 references.
• Best Short List
Fewer than 200 references.
• Best By the Glass List
• Best Sparkling Wine List
• Best Newcomer List
• Sustainable Wine List, presented by Lingua Franca
Recognises a wine list that has put extra emphasis on the wine program’s overall impact, including vine growing, winemaking, packaging and transport. Assessed via a questionnaire during the application process.
• Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
