Mountain wins Best Spanish Wine List in the UK 2025

London's Mountain restaurant has the Best Spanish Wine List in the UK, according to the judges of Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer.
On 3 March, Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer held its 2025 awards ceremony at the Winemakers Club in Farringdon.
Holly Willcocks and Martina Larnach, sommeliers at Soho restaurant Mountain, were presented with the Gold Star for Best Spanish Wine List by Frederic Monnery, from the category's sponsor Familia Torres.
“Our food has a very Spanish influence and I think it’s such an exciting region with so much to share, and it’s really nice to focus on some wines that make us happy,” said Holly whilst on-stage.
Judge Stephen Wong MW praised this “strongly philosophical list with a strongly modern point of view on Spain, from sparkling to refreshing, saline, and complex young whites, through rosé, orange, to reds with altitude and attitude. Respecting the influences of the coast, islands and mountains, this collection is not the largest, nor is it exhaustive, but it invites the diner to think differently about the wines of Spain and this is what brought the judges to agreement on its merits.”

Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer 2025 was judged by four international wine experts:
• Queena Wong – collector, educator and founder of the Curious Vines community

• Stephen Wong MW – sommelier, judge and consultant
• Nina Jensen – Second-Best Sommelier of the World, 2019 and 2023 (ASI)
Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
