116 Rokeby is the brick-and-mortar extension of The Local Drop, the personalised wine service co-founded by Jagdev “Jag” Singh, now taking shape in the industrial edges of the backstreets of Collingwood. After years of building a loyal following through thoughtful subscriptions, private tastings, and access to cult allocations, Jay has opened the doors to a space that brings it all together with confidence and clarity of purpose.
This is part retail shop, part bar, but most importantly, it’s a venue anchored in relationships; between importer and grower, sommelier and collector, bottle and drinker. The core list showcases the kind of wines The Local Drop has always done well: tightly allocated, thoughtfully farmed, expressive of place. But ask for the handwritten cellar list and you’re handed something rarer: a personal archive of bottles Jay has collected and cared for over many years.
These wines are now available to drink in, without the inflated markups you’d expect in splashy CBD dining rooms. You can share a bottle of serious Burgundy or Barolo in peace, with zero performance required. Add to that a free daily tasting flight of five wines, and it becomes clear: Rokeby exists for people who love to learn, taste, and explore without fuss.
With Pierrick Gorrichon (formerly sommelier at Gimlet) overseeing the floor, there’s both knowledge and generosity in the service. Whether you come to stock your home cellar, chase a rare pour, or simply ask questions over a quiet glass, you’ll leave feeling looked after.
