About Levan

A well-loved neighbourhood gem with a casual European vibe nestled in Peckham, South London. Named after DJ Larry Levan, he was very present in the choice of background music tracks. Food is elevated bistro style with well-presented plates of seasonal dishes from either à la carte or tasting menus. Do make sure to order some Comté fries.

The wine offering mirrors the European feeling with a focus on low-intervention organic, biodynamic and artisanal producers. The standard list has a good choice of offerings at affordable prices and tops out at around £80. Though for Star Wine List afficionados, ask for the “Cellar List” – a satisfying hunting ground with some surprises to pick out, of unusual varietals, older bottles and sought after winemakers. Their Jura game is the real star and strong enough to list by producer. Jura whites are clearly distinguished between the two styles of ouillé and sous voile to help less experienced readers order what they truly want, encouraging a greater love for the region.

Next door is Bar Levan, a wine bar and shop where you can conveniently pick up a bottle to take home for later.
