About De Groene Lantaarn
This great restaurant is situated in the Dutch countryside just outside the village of Staphorst. The chef and owner, Jarno Eggen, is a humble and very talented chef, awarded two Michelin stars over the past years. His wife, the extremely skilled Cindy, runs the front of the house. Despite the two Michelin stars, this house feels relaxed, pleasant and comfortable. The view from the terrace behind the farm is typically Dutch, overviewing the herb garden, the green field with cattle and the windmill, where the chef grinds the grain for the homemade bread.
Cindy’s eye for detail and perfection is remarkable, and you feel at home immediately. Cindy’s love for wine splashes off the wine list. Not an enormous collection but very well-thought-through, with some of the best winemakers worldwide and a real focus on Europe. Great Burgundy’s, both in white and red. I love this spot for the wine, cuisine and atmosphere.
