The Bull & Last

One of London’s best pubs (which now has seven guest rooms upstairs) the historic Bull & Last marries traditional cosy boozer with being a simply great place to eat and drink. The menu is hearty but refined seasonal British/European; the wine list mostly European, with classics and less spotted regions/blends from sustainably driven and traditional vignerons.

Wines by the glass are extremely competitively priced, so it's hard to complain, especially given the thought that’s gone into choosing this compact but classy list. From crowd-pleasing Picpoul and Tempranillo, to Jura Chardonnay, boutique Bordeaux and new wave Mosel Riesling there’s quality in every option. Grower Champagne, a Col Fondo and even a couple of skin contact wines provide further interest.

Situated on the south east corner of Hampstead Heath, it’s perfectly placed for a pre or post-meal stomp across one of London’s finest outdoor spaces (or a refreshing dip in the bathing ponds come summer).
