ÄNG Wine List
Restaurant ÄNG outside Varberg already has one star in the Michelin guide, and with their new venture, they are undoubtedly aiming for a second one. When the restaurant re-opened on July 1, 2022, it was in a new building, with a new way of thinking about the whole experience - and not least with a renewed focus on wine.
The evening begins and ends in the greenhouse-like glass house, which also offers a lovely view of the Halland landscape. You are then taken on a tour through the newly built wine cellar, where you – literally – wander through the wine list before entering the airy dining room with bright natural materials. The food, created by Filip Gemzell, is clean and refined, focusing on local ingredients in season.
The wine list, which Swedish sommelier champion Emma Ziemann has helped to build up, focuses on Europe and contains both classic icons and lesser-known producers. You can either choose the pairing menu or pick bottles from the cellar. A nice bonus during the evening is the quick stop in the wine cellar lounge, where you get to enjoy a glass in a comfortable armchair, surrounded by bottles.
Restaurant ÄNG "2.0" is definitely worth a detour - and requires booking well in advance.
