A16 draws a mix of neighborhood patrons and international visitors to Chestnut Street in the Marina District with its James-beard-Award-winning wine list centered around the grapes of Southern Italy and an assortment of handmade pizza and pastas to match. The space recently underwent some remodeling, but the special atrium at the back of the restaurant remains a favorite hideaway for lunch, dinner, and wine events.

A16 Wine List

Co-owner and Wine Director Shelley Lindgren is much-revered throughout the sommelier community, both for her extensive knowledge of Italian wine and for the breadth of her accomplishments, including published books and a handful of restaurants. Her list at A16 is exciting and educational, leaving no stone unturned within her chosen region. Here one may try Zibibbo from Marsala, Fiano Minutolo from Puglia, Taurasi from the 1960s, Sardinian Cannonau, and nine different expressions of Greco di Tufo, among many others. Don’t skip the dessert wine list, with its numerous passitos of various grapes to explore at the close of the meal.
