Ventnor's The Terrace wins Best Rosé Wine List in the UK 2025

Star Wine List's first award for the Best Rosé Wine List has been presented to The Terrace Rooms & Wine in our UK wine list competition for 2025.
Located in Ventnor, on the Isle of Wight, The Terrace Rooms and Wine has become Star Wine List's first Gold Star winner in the new Best Rosé Wine List category. Owners Ashley and Tom Fahey were presented with their Gold Star by Andrew Bayley, Managing Director of Famille Perrin, representing category sponsor Miraval at Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer 2025.
“What a delicious and diverse array of wine from a team that clearly loves rosé and understands that it does not begin and end with Provence,” said judge Stephen Wong MW. “Lovely classics and gems sit alongside discoveries from different regions and countries, providing a taste of the spectrum of what is possible with this broad and exciting style. Furthermore, the pricing makes it hard to resist exploring through the list. Bravo.”
Ashley explained the importance of rosé for The Terrace whilst on-stage: “Being by the sea, in the hottest place in the UK, we have a lot of people who want something pale, something dry, and they chuck ice in it, so we are really keen to introduce people to rosé as a wine, as something different, something that can match up to having a white or a red. We’re getting there. We do tastings every night for our residents and then they’re going with something really dark, and they’re happy with it.”

Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
