The five-star Park Hotel Vitznau, on Lake Lucerne, has been awarded a Gold Star for the Best Long List at Star Wine List of the Year Switzerland 2025, at an awards ceremony in Zurich.

The wine list at Park Hotel Vitznau contains some 4,500 references and, for the second year in a row, has been named the Best Long List in the country at our Swiss Star Wine List of the Year celebration. This year, the judges went one step further, also conferring Head of Wine Sven Uzat with the competition’s highest honour, the Grand Prix.

At an event held in Zurich this week, Uzat was presented with the Gold Star for Best Long List by Andres Morgen, of the category’s sponsor, Château d'Esclans.

Judge Nina Jensen called the hotel’s wine selection a “classy, precise and purposeful list that showcases breathtaking verticals. Taking an overall old-school approach, it stays relevant by including emerging stars. Creating such a list is a continuous effort of discipline, tough choices, and immense integrity.”

Park Hotel Vitznau has now been entered into the Best Long List category at the Star Wine List of the Year International Final 2025, where it will be pitted against winners from around the world. Our global Gold Stars will be presented at an event in Vienna, on 16 June.

Categories and criteria

Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.

The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.

The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
