Star Wine List of the Year Norway 2025 was hosted during Sommelier Day in Oslo, on 12 October, with last year’s Best Newcomer, Vinland, taking the Gold Star for Best By-the-Glass List in a category sponsored by Riedel.

Located in Oslo’s former US Embassy, Vinland has quickly become a key player on the capital’s wine scene. At our Norwegian competition last year, the brasserie was recognised for having the Best Newcomer List, later going on to take the same Gold Star at the Star Wine List of the Year International Final 2025, as our global champion.

This year, Vinland’s Francesco Marzola accepted a Gold Star for the restaurant’s selection of wines served by the glass, appearing onstage alongside colleagues Kata Toruk-Ambros and Daniel Berg-Johansen.

“A glass-pour list showing dedicated curation while also offering a vast amount of choice in still wines,” commented judge Stephen Wong MW. “Spanning fresh discoveries and mature vintages, both classics and new wave producers share the page. Most admirably, the selection devotes attention to regions outside Europe as well. This wine programme is a star on the ascendant!”

Vinland’s award was presented by Nadine Røste Sørlle on behalf of Riedel, the Austrian glass producer now run by the eleventh generation of the eponymous family. As the only glassmaker in the world to focus on specific grape varietals, Riedel carries a spirit of innovation.

“Never has there been so much good wine offered in Norway by the glass,” explained the Riedel team at Sundqvist, in advance of the competition. “Good for the Norwegians. And Star Wine List of the Year helps to focus on drinking ‘by the glass’ – and hopefully served in the right glass.”
