About L'Oste Scuro

The “dark innkeeper” is another hidden gem, tucked away down an unassuming side street opposite the medieval Castelvecchio. Widely regarded as Verona’s finest fish restaurant, owner Simone Lugoboni is a familiar face to his many loyal customers who return regularly. A fresh catch comes daily from the markets of Chioggia, Venice and Cagliari, while oysters, caviar and lobsters are imported from further afield. The cellar is exceptionally well stocked, with French, Italian and German bubbles and whites dominating.

The refined wine list offers wine by the glass (starting at 5 euros for a crisp Pinot Grigio) as well as half bottles and magnums. In fine weather, an internal courtyard and veranda overlooking the garden provide a welcome oasis of calm and tranquillity. L'Oste Scuro offers an elegant fine-dining experience with an eight-course tasting menu available for 145 euros (wine not included) and is a must-stop for visiting gourmets.

In fact, during Vinitaly, tables are known to book out a year in advance as discerning wine producers from across Italy seek out the best fish in town.
