Hidden away in an unassuming courtyard in the heart of Verona’s historic centre, this is one of Verona’s most renowned restaurants. The magnificent external lamp above the ornate arched doorway indicates that you’ve arrived at the right place. Under the ownership of chef Giancarlo Perbellini, the 12 Apostoli has recently reopened following a significant refurbishment. Inside, crisp and modern fittings mesh with original historical architecture. Guests can choose between three tasting itineraries offered in the two historic rooms, the Vòlto and Fresco rooms, or the new Chef's Table experience, a dedicated table with seating for 12 (like the apostles) which overlooks the kitchen.
Below frescoed ceilings, the cantina displays fine wines and rarities, while downstairs, in a vaulted room with traces of both Roman and medieval architecture, the historic cellar houses a further selection of over 300 fine wines, including many local and international labels.
