Chelsea's Wild Corner has the UK's Best By the Glass List, as announced at this week's Star Wine List of the Year with The Buyer awards for 2025.

In a category supported by Majestic Commercial, London wine bar Wild Corner was presented with a Gold Star for the Best By the Glass List in the UK.

“A taster and tempter's dream, this is a list which takes the ‘glass pour list’ concept and throws it out the door,” explained judge Stephen Wong MW. “Beyond the insanity of having so many wines to manage by the glass is the sheer audacity of the wines being poured, including sought-after old gems. The perfect place to take a rich friend who is paying and indulge in wines which are rarely poured by the glass.”

Wild Corner has now automatically been entered into the Star Wine List of the Year International Final, alongside other winners in the category from around the world. Our global Gold Stars will be announced on 16 June 2025.

On-stage at the event, sommelier Vlad Costiug explained that creating the list is “a big team effort. We always try to find exciting stuff. We have a small wine bar so we really get to know our clients – we know what they like and if we find good wine, we’re going to make them happy. So we’re going to go back [to the bar] and we’re going to pop some Champagne to celebrate!”

Categories and criteria

Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.

The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.

The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
