About Muñeca Brava
Muñeca Brava is located just a bit outside of the city centre, in a more residential and neighbourhood area of Madrid, just a few metres away from the Atocha train station.
Run by three enthusiastic wine loving women (the soul of this place, as well as its owners), Muñeca Brava is a very cosy space with comfy sofas and an animated atmosphere, and a DJ in the evenings. Young people and neighbours come here together.
Its food is simple but tasty, and very homey, with a mixture of Extremadura cuisine (you'll find a nice selection of dried meat and charcuterie) and Madrileñan dishes, with touches of Argentina through its lovely empanadas.
Ale and Gigi are in charge of the wine side. Their list is small but well chosen – mainly Spanish with just a few bins of international wine regions. They work with small wineries, focusing on the terroir, and with producers using sustainable techniques in their vineyards. I would highly recommend to put yourself in Ale and Gigi's hands, as they may well open any label by the glass, to serve – something that is a huge advantage.
It's also interesting to know that they serve some natural wine on draft, and organise wine tasting events open to the general public.
