About Merlet

Merlet is on the Dutch north coast, not very far from the Wadden Islands, and the harbour of Den Helder is half an hour's car drive away. The beautiful Texel Island takes a 20-minute trip with the ferry. Merlet Hotel also hosts a fine-dining restaurant packed with fine art like the big sand sculpture depicting the dunes of Schoorl facing the open kitchen area.

Art is also on the wine list, and you will find an awesome selection of South Africa's finest wines, both reds and whites. Also a dizzying choice of white wines from the Jura without forgetting the classics from Burgundy, Bordeaux and Rioja – to name a few. It took me some time to pick the perfect bottles for dinner, but the sommelier was a great help with stunning knowledge and passion.

Merlet also serves a wide range of exclusive sake by the glass, even in his wine pairings accompanying the tasting menu. Top quality wines (and food too) at this spot at a friendly price tag. If you can, you have to stay over for the night and also visit 'Atelier', the new Japanese-style chef's table concept. The beverage pairings in ten courses are heavenly.
