About Le Wine Bar by Le Vintage

Le Wine Bar may have a casual bistro-style menu but they attract a connoisseur crowd with their inspiring and extensive wine list featuring hard-to-find grower and maison Champagnes alike, many harking back to the 1980s, and also in large format. Wow!

Located adjacent to the Place du Forum in Reims, Le Wine Bar is very much a neighbourhood bar where owners and brothers, Nicolas and Pierre–Louis Papavero, will always make you feel so welcome. The bar takes a different approach to selecting champagnes for the list, establishing a personal relationship with each producer, visiting each one and tasting extensively before selection because “Champagne has many great terroirs and we want to reflect this on our list,” they say. To this end, the Champagne offering reflects the newer generation of winegrowers and winemakers, all the way up to the most famous maisons.

Burgundy lovers will find their place here too, scrolling more than a dozen pages of collections from Burgundy’s finest terroirs and producers. Rhône wines are also given prominence. Selection of French wines follows a similar process, with new references being added each year, paying attention to viticulture and vinification to authentically profile France’s terroir.

The brothers also have an incredibly good wine shop, just a few streets away - ‘Le Vintage’ - useful if you’re on the go. In the warmer months, make the most of your Le Wine Bar experience by booking a table outside, well in advance, to see out the day under the night sky and into the early hours of the morning.

  • 21 pages of Champagnes are arranged by region firstly for Growers wines then the Maisons. A very impressive list which has a lot of older vintages plus a good selection of Coteaux Champenoise also, says the jury's Ronan Sayburn MS about the gold for Best Sparkling Wine List in Star Wine List of the Year France 2024.

  • Just impressive! This wine list isn’t just an ode to Champagne beauty, it also makes a deep dive into the region’s diversity, through non-dogmatic selection that features great producers and high-quality Champagne houses, nuanced by sub-regions, various styles and old vintages. Great job! [Gold Star: Best Sparkling Wine List, Star Wine List of the Year France 2026.]
