About Le Mirza

As you step into Le Mirza, and face the zinc bar top and open kitchen, you instantly know you’re in the right place. The lively crowd of regulars – a mix of locals, families, tourists and visitors – turns this neighbourhood bar into a true wine lovers’ destination. Founded by three friends who once worked together at a local institution, Le Mirza quickly built a loyal following from this off-piste spot on the Rue Châteaubriand, linking the Talensac Market to the Erdre riverbanks and Île de Versailles. The mid-century broken tile mosaic floor, bistro furniture and indie music all contribute to an ageless and homely feel.

Behind the bar, François pours an all-organic selection of French wines from the Loire and beyond. The by-the-glass menu – unwritten – changes constantly. While most bottles lean on the natural and fabulous side of the spectrum, they never hesitate to cater to all palates and open something else on the spot. The selection of small, seasonal plates coming out of the kitchen are among the best in the city, and while they’re designed for sharing, you’ll likely be tempted to enjoy your own.

The place isn’t exactly small by French standards, yet tables disappear fast to eager punters. The counter stools offer the best experience, giving you front-row seats to all the cooking and pouring action. In summer, the car-free street terrace becomes the informal meeting point for the city’s hospitality and wine crowd. It doesn’t get Frencher than this.
