Vintage Kitchen Wine List
About Vintage Kitchen
This restaurant lives up to its name in several ways. Of course there is the wine, with its vintage focus, but the house itself is also a jewel, built in the year 1990 despite being surrounded by modern architecture. The interior has the same vintage allure as the exterior, which makes Vintage Kitchen an intimate and cosy restaurant. The food also has some vintage associations, especially the lunch menu, with its lavish Danish smørrebrød selection. The dinner menu has a classic continental sense to it, but with some sidesteps to other parts of the world.
Vintage Kitchen also works as a wine bar, on the ground floor, where you can have elements of the dinner menu with your glass of wine. During summer there is a spacious outdoor area with a view to the tree-lined riverside.
The owner’s affinity with classic fine wine goes back several decades, so this is – unsurprisingly – reflected in the wine list. There is a large selection of Burgundian whites and reds with a focus on the big names, but more reasonably priced wines are entering this wine list too. German wines are also well represented: mostly Riesling, but Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can be found as well. Speaking of those two grapes, the selection of West Coast American wines is particularly good. The by-the-glass-list is quite short, with wines in a moderate price range, but still well chosen.

In the eastern part of Oslo’s city centre, tucked between new office buildings, the Vintage Kitchen is a restaurant and wine bar housed in an old, listed building. It combines the essence of a Danish “kro” with lavish open sandwiches during the day and classic cuisine in the evenings. The wine list is extensive and mostly classic, but you will find some hipster wines too, with a broad selection by the glass.
