Elliot Björkman new sommelier champion in Sweden

Elliot Björkman of restaurant Nisch in Stockholm won the Swedish Sommelier championship 2024 at a hotly contested event in Stockholm on May 5. No less than 14 sommeliers had signed up, driven by the fact that three-time winner Emma Ziemann gave the competition a pass this year.

Martin Mortensen of Äng came second and Albert Wendesten of Leijontornet came third.

"Pardon my French but damn this was nice!" Björkman said after the final.

Björkman vill now compete for Sweden in the upcoming Nordic Sommelier Championship, along with Mortensen.
