Doppo wins Best Italian Wine List in the UK 2025
The Gold Star for Best Italian Wine List has been presented to Doppo, London, at Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer 2025.
On 3 March, the team from Soho's Doppo restaurant was presented with the award for Best Italian Wine List by category sponsor Ceretto, at an awards ceremony held at the Winemakers Club in Farringdon.
On-stage, sommelier Giuseppe Zen explained that “we love all of Italy, especially Tuscany and so we focus on that, but going around all of Italy as well. And whatever we don’t drink ourselves, we give to the guests!”
“An impressive Italian list – you can see why this is a favourite among those in the know who love good wine and good food,” said judge Queena Wong. “It has fabulous by-the-glass options, delightful older bottles to explore and an extensive but easy-reading bottle list to help consumers narrow their choices (even those with a new enthusiast’s level of knowledge). Reasonable prices entice patrons to explore and upgrade to wines they may not normally order. This is a place that will inspire many people toe-dipping into wine to dive in!”

• Stephen Wong MW – sommelier, judge and consultant
• Nina Jensen – Second-Best Sommelier of the World, 2019 and 2023 (ASI)
Categories and criteria
Star Wine List judges the wine lists in several categories such as the Best Sparkling Wine List and Best By the Glass List. These categories are the same across all of the awards. In addition, local categories may be added. We have commercial partners for certain categories, such as the Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine. The commercial partners are, however, never involved in the selections of finalists or winners — that is completely up to our independent jury panel.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
